Row, Row, Row your boat

So on Saturday, Adam and I went on a water-rafting trip through the USO. It was so much fun! OK so at first I thought I was going to die, but it got better as we went along. Here's a fun pic of us in our gear:

On our tour there were about 30 people or so with one English-speaking guide. When we got to the rafting place we had to divide into two boats - Adam and I ended up in the boat that didn't have the English guide. One girl in our boat did speak Korean but she was pretty slow in translating it to English. So to say I was a little concerned when we started off would be an understatement! Especially since I'd never been rafting like this before. While on the bus, our tour guide had gone over some key Korean words that we should know: left, right, stop, go, that kind of thing. But the problem is he said them all slow and let's face it, in real life, people don't talk that way! So of course it was near impossible to understand our river guide once we were in the boat.

So the trip starts off with us all trying ot paddle together. OMG, it was hilarious. You would have thought that no one had tried to paddle a boat before! lol. It's not that hard, after the guide says row, you row! Eventually our guide decided we were ready for the river (or more likely figured it was as good as it gets) and we headed toward the first rapids.

OMG, this first rapid was huge! People were flying all over the boat like crazy. I seriously thought I was going to die. And of course it didn't help that we'd started into it sideways, since we weren't capable of paddling all together. Plus to top it off, I ended up being at the very back of the boat which is slightly higher than the rest of it so I was bouncing around like crazy!

Luckily we all survived the first rapid and it went to large calm area where all these boats were gathered to do "teambuilding" exercises. I personally think that the reason we had to go through the crazy rapid first was to scare us all to the point that we'd appreciate the fact that the river is dangerous and would then pay attention to the teambuilding. Basically the exercises involved us rocking the boats like crazy and standing up and balancing on the edge of the raft. We were all also required to get into the water and swim around, probably to check everyone's life vests. I think this might have been my favorite part of the whole trip simply because we got to swim around - it's been so long since I've gotten to swim, I miss it!

I must say that the exercises did make me feel more comfortable with the boat since we'd been able to see just how much it could rock around with out tipping over. Always a good thing to know! The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful, just beautiful scenery, lots of splashing between boats, and the occasional rapid along the way. There was definitely more calm parts than rapids but that's to be expected since we're not exactly looking for a Class 5 trip, LOL. Adam didn't like this though since you had to row all through the calm parts.

My favorite moment though was when the boat carrying the other half of our group got stuck in one of the rapids! I'm sure they didn't find it has funny as I did but the whole scene was just hilarious to watch. Basically instead of going down the side of the rapid where there was a nice flow of water they ended up going straight ahead and got stuck on two rocks. Their guide kept making them move all to one side of the boat while he furiously tried to rock the poor raft back into the water. They were probably stuck there for 10 minutes at least! Luckily, they managed to get it going again and everyone was fine, but it was amusing to watch from afar!

And if you made it this far, here are a few more pics from the trip!

The river

Adam and some other members of our group during our break. The guy on the right in the black is one of the river guides. We were a little concerned when we first arrived and they all had on wetsuits, but the water was actually a perfect temperature.

Our trusty steed aka the raft

The lovely Korean countryside. The rafting site was about 2.5 hours outside of Seoul, so we saw a lot of this on the way. I had wanted to take more pictures but the battery was exhausted, poor battery! hehe

That's all for now!

So cute!

So Adam and I were finally able to go see Cars the other night. I'd been working both days the first time it played here so I was really excited when I saw it was coming back! OMG, it was soooo cute! I think this is probably my favorite Pixar movie so far. Seriously, great story, great characters, loved the scenery and just an overall fun time! I totally loved that little Guido guy, so adorable! Here he is for your viewing pleasure...

hehe, too cute!

The only thing I found weird was the preview before the movie was for The Omen! Not exactly kid friendly. And man, that kid on the swingset, really creeped me out, what with the music. I just wanted it to stop! LOL Don't think I'll be going to check out that one. It definitely wasn't what I expected to see before a kids movie - especially considering we've seen that stupid Garfield movie preview before everything else we've seen lately. Wonder if it was a mistake?

Oh well, that's all I've got for now! Enjoy your weekend!

Check it out!!

So I imagine some of you are sitting there saying, umm ok it's a closet. But, what you don't know is that for the past 8 months I have been living out of a suitcase. Yes that 's right, I never bothered to get all my clothes hung up after we moved here. Why, you might ask? Well for one I think that it made me feel like I wasn't stuck here. And two the closet smelled funky! The apt was brand new when we moved in and I thought at first the smell was just from the glue they used for the floor or something. But the smell persisted, nothing would get rid of it! We tried those Febreeze sprays, yeah nothing. It was the Beast, I swear! Adam kept saying that we needed to open up the closet doors so the smell would get out of there but I didn't want the whole apt to smell too!

So while I was back in California for my sister's graduation, Adam cleaned out a space for all of my clothes in the closet and even put my shoes all lined up along the bottom shelf. A subtle message, perhaps? LOL But did I listen no, cause it still smelled!

But lately the doors have been left open more often and the smell seems to have gone away so I decided since I was doing laundry yesterday anyway I would actually hang up my clothes in there. Hence the picture. And looked they're all color-coded - not for organization's sake but because it looked prettier! LOL

And in other scrap-related news, Lyndsay Riches accepted me onto her team! Yay! She had a CT call and while I don't usually apply for those, I saw her designs and thought they were so cute that I would take a risk. Guess it paid off! You can check out all of her designs here at Plain Digital Wrapper.

And I finally posted my first CT layout for Amber Clegg. It uses several of her items all of which can be found here.

It's just a picture of my sisters being the big dorks that they are hehe. And it makes me laugh everytime I see it!

That's all I've got for now! Tune in next time!

Talladega Nights

So Adam and I went and saw this movie the other night. (This being Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby)and umm, yeah...not sure what to say about that. LOL This was definitely one of those movies where the jokes go on way longer than is funny. It had a lot of those weird moments where you know they meant it to be funny and yet you just can't convince yourself to laugh, not even a "that's so lame" laugh. It tends to be a bad sign when no one in the theater is laughing either lol. But hey at least it was free!

I also managed to find some time to upload a few layouts I finished while my internet was done. Amazing what you can get done when you don't have a connection to the outside world - I managed to watch all of Grey's Anatomy and The Office! LOL Productive huh? Good thing I'm an excellent multi-tasker!

So here are my first two CT layouts for Holly McCaig's team. The first one is with her Rawk Candy kit and the second is with Office Chic, both at PDW.

The Results are In!

Ok ok, so technically the results were in like 3 weeks ago but I've been busy! But yes, that's me in the top 5, woohoo!! Not too shabby considering there were still 50 people participating in the final round. You can see all of my entries here.

Look what else arrived recently...

Yes, that's right, I am the proud new owner of a Digital Rebel XT! Totally excited to explore all the cool things it can do. I'll be sure and post some pictures when I finally get a chance to use it. It stayed in its box for several days after it arrived since I was so busy with the DST newsletter - drove Adam crazy! He kept trying to open it! Which could be a good sign...maybe I can get him to learn enough that I can get some decent pictures of me places, instead of just him!

Ok that's all I've got for now - more to come later!
